The Wolves Club of Erie's 67th Annual Scholarship Banquet, hosted by the Edinboro University Foundation, was held on October 21 at PennWest Edinboro University. The 30 attendees were comprised of student scholarship recipients, parents, Wolves Club members, and university representatives. It was noted that three prior Wolves Club Scholarship Recipients were in attendance: Attorney Peter Sala, Wolves Club Member; Amanda Brown Sissem, Associate Vice President, Alumni Engagement and Campus Administrator for PennWest Edinboro; and Fred Bird, spouse of Gannon University's Vice President for University Advancement.

The Wolves Club of Erie, Den VIII, held their summer picnic on Wednesday July 26th at Veteran’s Park in Millcreek Twp. Missing from this photo is the lovely Laurie Filson who acted as the group photographer. The beagle, named Darby, was an honorary member for the evening.

 

The Wolves Club of Erie Den VIII held their annual scholarship banquet on Friday October 22, 2021 at Gannon Univ. Pete Sala was the Master of Ceremonies and made the presentations of scholarship monies to the respective students. President Chuck Perrotta gave an inspirational and motivational talk. The total attendance was approx 75 students and their parents, Wolves Club members and other dignitaries.

 

Erie Den VIII 2019 Scholarship Banquet held on Saturday October 12th at PSU-ERIE. We had over 70 attendees. There was $32,250 given out in scholarships this year. Click here to view the program.

 

About Us

Sixty years ago, the Wolves Club of Erie, Den VIII, (comprised of 16 men) was formed as a service club dedicated to supporting the community and students of the city of Erie and Erie County. The Erie Wolves were officially chartered on May 16, 1956 as a member of the National Association of Wolves. At that time, membership was limited to men of Italian/American heritage.

That first year, the 16 members, led by President Charles A. Catania, made the decision to award a $400 dollar scholarship. The recepient was Ken Hayden of Erie Academy. Since that time, the Erie Den leads the National Association of Wolves with $1,871,200 dollars in financial aid and scholarships. Leading the field of 10 active dens throughout Pennsylvania and Ohio, the Erie Wolves Club has established a series of firsts: The awarding of one-year grants (Fortis Institute, formerly Tri-State) and the establishment of perpetual endowments with the local colleges and universities - Gannon University, Mercyhurst University, Penn State Behrend and Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.

The Erie Wolves are proud of the 440 scholarships and 430 grants awarded since 1956. Additionally, thousands of dollars have been awarded to numerous community projects.

Lastly, Erie is most proud of one other first: It was the first den to admit women as members. Our membership is open. May God continue to bless us.

 

Wolves Club of Erie Events:

On Thursday July 11th, the Meadville & Erie Dens met up in Venango Township, Crawford County at Sprague’s Farm & Brew Works. We had live music, hatchet throwing and a few beers too.

The 2018 Erie Wolves Club Den VIII  Scholarship Banquet was held on Friday October 19th at Edinboro University.

Erie Den VIII held a summer picnic at Veteran’s Park in Millcreek on Thursday July 19th 2018. We had perfect weather, great food & drink, and an epic Jumbo Jenga game! Congrats to President Jim Filson, for pulling off a great event.
